Push Notifications

Most vacation rental professionals are often on the move and want to receive OwnerRez Notifications on their personal devices without digging through their email inboxes. As of June 19, 2024, now you can!

Subscribing to push notifications via the OwnerRez Progressive Web App (PWA) on your mobile device or via browser on Windows or MacOS devices allows you to receive push notifications on your subscribed devices (and you can also keep receiving Email Notifications as needed). OwnerRez's Progressive Web App (PWA) must be installed/re-installed on your mobile devices to receive them this way.

Push notifications are alerts that the OwnerRez system sends to you via your subscribed devices. When possible, they will include property names. They are not sent to guests.

Since Push Notifications is a brand-new feature, we recommend you keep your current Email Notifications on. Once push notifications work to your satisfaction and business needs, you can dial back any Email Notifications as desired.

What do the push notifications look like?

Below are the steps to enable push notifications for different devices.

Step 1: Delete Current OwnerRez PWA (i.e., Phone Shortcut)

Since OwnerRez recently moved to a new URL, we recommend all users delete their current OwnerRez Progressive Web App (PWA) to remove any redirects in use by an outdated PWA/Shortcut. If you don't currently use a PWA shortcut, skip to Step 2

Step 2: Install/Reinstall the OwnerRez PWA

Installing for the first time, or after you've deleted your current OwnerRez Progressive Web App (PWA), follow the instructions in the Mobile Phones and Tablets support article to install the PWA.

When you first subscribe, all push notifications are defaulted to On. You have the ability to turn them off/on individually as needed.

Step 3: Enroll/Subscribe to Notifications

You don't need to subscribe on all of your devices, only the ones you want to receive push notifications. You can always start with one device and then add others later. Find the device you want to start with below!

NOTE: The "device prompts" presented by your device(s) may vary, depending on the operating system and browser versions installed. The below instructions are a general representation of the steps for each operating system.

Configuring Push Notifications

Since Push Notifications is a brand-new feature, we recommend you keep your current Email Notifications on. Once push notifications work to your satisfaction and business needs, you can dial back any Email Notifications as desired.

Now that you're subscribed on your device(s), you can configure which notifications you want to receive as push notifications.

Navigate to Profile > Notifications > Subscriptions to preview both Email and Push Notifications and enable or disable individual Notifications.

On the Notifications page, users can preview both Email and Push Notifications and enable or disable individual Notifications.

When you first subscribe, all push notifications will be defaulted to On. You can go one-by-one and turn them off/on as needed.

Click OFF on the pill button toggle on any row to switch it to OFF. To turn it on, click ON.

You can do the same in the Email column as desired.

Common Issues & Questions

What are the Current Known Browser Requirements?

Some older operating systems/devices and browsers do not support push notifications. When that is the case, there will be no option to "Subscribe this device," and/or an notification stating that your browser is unsupported or outdated.

Current known browser requirements are:

  • Safari 16.4 or newer

Why didn't I get a notification on my device?

There can be a number of reasons why you didn't get a notification on your device. OwnerRez sends your push notification to your browser provider, but we have no control over its delivery. OwnerRez recommends the following:

  • Check your Communication History (Tools > Communication History) to verify if any notifications have actually been sent to you.
  • Verify that you haven't accidentally silenced or disabled any notifications.
  • Verify that you did NOT install the Progressive Web App from an Incognito window or tab.
  • Verify that you have NOT enabled any Focus or Do Not Disturb modes on your device.
  • Verify that your browser is up to date.
  • Ensure that your browser (Chrome, Safari, Edge, Firefox, etc.) notifications are enabled on your device.
  • Ensure that OwnerRez notifications are enabled on your device.

If, after following the steps above, you are still not receiving OwnerRez push notifications, try deleting and then reinstalling your Progressive Web App again.

Why am I not getting notifications on my Android device?

If you are not getting push notifications on your Android device, OwnerRez has noticed that users of some Android devices may need to check additional settings. You can do that by navigating to your OwnerRez app on your affected device > Settings > App Notifications > OwnerRez > and clicking on General. This will open some additional notification settings. Verify that Show notifications and, if available, Pop on screen toggles are turned on.

Navigate to your OwnerRez app on your affected device > Settings > App Notifications > OwnerRez > and clicking on General. This will open some additional notification settings. Verify that Show notifications and, if available, Pop on screen toggles are turned on.

If that doesn't work, see the Why didn't I get a notification on my device? for other things to check.
