Id love to use the calendar that the system has instead of Google calendar as a widget on my phone home screen. Is this possible? Or if not, then have the Google calendar sync show the same info at least. Maybe?
Basically you're asking for a custom OwnerRez app, which is a very large project that certainly won't happen anytime soon.
However, since OwnerRez exports data using the iCal Internet calendar standard, you can use any other program or app that supports that same standard, and there are loads of them. We don't have any in particular to recommend, but Wikipedia has a page:

What if the app happened in steps? It wouldn't need to include every OR feature from the get-go. It could step up from a "Today's View" for owners to start, and move onto messaging, and other items after that, reserving creating new listings for just the website or something.

That is the approach we're looking at actually.
The main items a native app would make better are:
There's not much else that really requires a native app other than these. So the loose idea is to create an OR "Messenger" app that would focus mostly on communication on all sides for OR users.
When i used Lodgify, i synced with goggle calendar and used the monthly view widget as a whole page on one of my phones home screen, just as i do now with Ownerrez. The information fed from Lodgify through sync was different than what is fed from Ownerrez through sync. All i would like is the name of the guest included in the data. I can better personalize their experience and time with me and my place if i see them as a name and not just a booking.
Shouldn't be too hard to make happen huh? I don't want a whole app. Just more synced info on my calendar widget.

The default iCal export link doesn't include any guest info because it's meant to be shared publicly to other listing sites.
You can create additional links and include more information like guest name or even create a fully custom export using field codes.
Here's how to do that: https://www.ownerrez.com/support/articles/custom-ical-links
Then you'd take that custom iCal export and use that to import into Google Calendar rather than the default iCal export.
Kudos to you! Problem solved!! Awesome awesome!
Much appreciation!!
